Independence Classical Academy Volunteers
We are grateful for our parent and community volunteers who help make Independence Classical Academy a wonderful place where teachers can teach and students will learn.
Due to Florida state law, all ICA volunteers are now required to complete a Level 2 background check with fingerprinting before participating in any volunteer activities on campus. This is not specific to ICA—every school in St. Lucie County must have volunteers complete a level 2 background check with fingerprints.
To begin the process, please follow the steps below:
- Print the application linked below or pick up a hard copy from the front office
- Complete the Demographics Form- this information must match the information on your driver’s license.
- Complete the Privacy Policy Acknowledgement Form.
- Submit both forms along with a copy of your driver’s license to the ICA School Secretary.
Once these items are received, ICA will provide you with further instructions to complete your fingerprinting appointment.
Important Notes:
- There is a fee for fingerprinting, which may be up to $100.
- Fingerprints are valid for five years, but the volunteer application process must be repeated each school year.
We appreciate your cooperation in following these new requirements to ensure the safety of our students. Your time, talent, and dedication mean so much to our school.
Please Note - all volunteer applications for field trips must be completed before field trip information is sent home with students.
Background Checks
To protect our students and uphold Florida law, all employees and volunteers who work with children are required to complete a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Clearinghouse. Level 2 background screening is Florida's highest level of background check. It is required by Section 435.04, Florida Statues for individuals working in positions of responsibility or trust.
