Independence Classical Academy is proud to be a B school with the highest learning gains in St. Lucie County last year—a true reflection of our students’ hard work and our teachers’ dedication. We achieved this by staying true to our rich classical curriculum and without teaching to the test. Our students’ growth is real, meaningful, and rooted in deep understanding.
Thanks to this strong foundation and the excellence happening in our classrooms every day, ICA is on track to become an A school this year. Our students continue to show what is possible when education stays focused on knowledge, character, and doing things the right way.
At Independence Classical Academy, our GATE Program for Young Scholars is designed to meet the unique needs of advanced learners through a rigorous, enriched, and accelerated educational experience. Rooted in classical principles, the program challenges students intellectually while nurturing curiosity, creativity, character, and a genuine love of learning.
ICA’s GATE Program provides high-achieving students with meaningful, purpose-driven instruction—without the “busy work” or test-driven culture often found in traditional gifted settings. Instead, students engage in deep learning through didactic teaching, project-based exploration, hands-on academic work, and rich discussions that strengthen reasoning and communication skills.
GATE students benefit from:
Entrance requirements must be met and maintained to ensure that students remain in a learning environment aligned with their academic readiness and potential.
At ICA, the GATE Program empowers young scholars to thrive—preparing them to become thoughtful leaders, lifelong learners, and virtuous citizens.

Independence Classical Academy’s Outdoor Education Program gives students meaningful, hands on learning experiences that connect academic study with the natural world. Rooted in our classical model, this program blends theory and practice, allowing students to develop responsibility, stewardship, and a genuine appreciation for the environment around them.
Our school garden serves as a living classroom where students explore sustainable agriculture, plant biology, and environmental stewardship. They learn where food comes from, how ecosystems function, and why caring for the land matters.
Through our popular Fishing Club, students build teamwork, problem solving, and conservation skills while experiencing Florida’s ecosystems firsthand. This program teaches responsible angling, wildlife awareness, and a deep respect for our natural resources.
The Marksmanship Program emphasizes safety, discipline, and precision. Students learn how to handle equipment responsibly while developing focus, self control, and confidence.
ICA also partners with the Ducks Unlimited Program, giving students advanced exposure to ecology, conservation, and wildlife management. Participants gain practical skills that support future interests in natural resources and sustainable conservation practices.
Together, these opportunities make Outdoor Education at ICA a rich extension of our mission. Students discover the beauty of the outdoors, develop lifelong skills, and learn to become thoughtful caretakers of the world they inherit.
